Dek5000, brushless generator, no power, tested voltage L1-L2 = 2v , R1-R2 = 2v, between capacitor leads = 5.2v. Replaced capacitor, half moon style, no change. Had capacitors tested = both good. Tried reverse drill trick = no change, but drill was very difficult to spin backwards. Charged capacitor with 110v = no change. Connected 110v to capacitor while running = generator produced 60v, but only while 110v leads were connected.
Any ideas or suggestions?

It's an old thread but w/ no response.

You might test the L1 & l2 windings for resistance in ohms. They're probably not broken if you're getting voltage but you never know. Next would be to check the resistance of L1 & L2 to ground. That should read infinite resistance.

It seems a good possibility that the exciter coil windings are damaged if so equipped.
