Generator producing 300vac. Can not adjust regulator. Purchased new regulator (which says discontinued on it) and installed. Started generator and now no volts and light does not come on on regulator either. Any help

Not sure where you bought it, but that AVR is certainly not discontinued.

Assuming it's an air cooled unit, this is the regulator you need:https://shop.gentekpower.com/products/g ... ulator-avr

It could be that the brush resistance is high and killed the old reg as well.

That’s the one I got and when I installed it the same way the old one was, wire for wire, nothing happens. No voltage at the breaker and the light does not come on on the AVS. I assuming it’s a bad AVS that I bought but wasn’t sure

Sorry Eddie, have been super busy and replying when possible!

You should measure the resistance between the 0 and 4 wires with them disconnected from the AVR. Use a good quality digital meter!

Ok I can do that. I have a fluke 85. Where do you start to count the terminals to find the ones I need to measure and what should there reading be. The old AVR puts out 300 volts and the light comes on but the new one does nothing. No light and no voltage

The 2 middle wires are 4 and 0 (marked in very tiny cast print on the edge F+ and F-)

Chris I get 22 ohms. After I check my ohm reading and then I start my generator my voltage regulator works. When I stop it again and start it it doesn’t work. Do I need to excite my generator again and if so how

It sounds to me like the excitation circuit on the PCB is failing... It's easier to add a field boost kit than to replace the PCB and it guarantees that there will be field boost voltage at all times!

Takes power from the run circuit and pushes direct to the 4 wire.

You can find one here: https://shop.gentekpower.com/products/g ... -upfit-kit
