My battery died recently on my 22KW air cooled. I replaced the battery with the 26R and 2 days later I am getting a LOW BATTERY alarm on the display. Checked the voltage and it is at 10 V. Where is the charging unit? And how could I troubleshoot it ?

The charger is built into the controller on this unit. You should have 120V input on the T1 wire which is power for the charger internally.

Does the display also say Charger Missing AC?

Yes it said missing AC. I have 120 V on the T1 wire. Now it says low battery.

If the screen said Charger Missing AC, that means that the battery charger inside the controller isn't seeing 120V power for some reason... I would check your connections at the generator and make SURE that you actually have 120V power on the T1 wire. Can you post a couple of pictures of the install?

Chris. I found the terminal block that the T1 wire was connected to in the unit was not gripping the wire properly. I was able to pull the blue wire out without pressing down on the release +. I tried several times to land the wire correctly but the block wouldn't hold it in place. So I removed both the blue and the T1 wire and connected using a solderless yellow push in connector. The Missing AC fault is now gone. However I still have the low battery. I am going to see if it charges. If not I will just replace the battery.

One other question how do I get the firmware update for my controller. I cannot find it on the generac website.

The on-board charger is not designed to bring a dead battery back, you may damage the charger. I would remove the battery and charge it with a stand-alone charger.

Like Buckshot said, I'd charge the battery (removed from the gen) and then try it.

As far as firmware goes, that's really a dealer only item. I'd contact your local dealer and see what they would charge to make a visit and install. Takes about 30 seconds... I personally like version 1.17 best as 1.18 and 1.20 are designed for the Auxiliary Shutdown kits and if not installed could possibly cause a false trip.

Ok I replaced the battery yesterday and now I am getting a charger warning on the LCD. Is the charging unit on the controller the issue? Could you get me a part number? Serial # 3002664643

This is the controller that fits your generator. https://shop.gentekpower.com/products/g ... trol-panel

You should be able to monitor battery voltage pretty easily with a meter. Check the battery voltage before cranking the gen, should be around 13.5V or so, then crank the gen and it should drop to around 11.8 or so, then you should be able to watch it slowly climb back up to the 13.5.

If the battery is not charging, the controller will slowly kill the battery.
