14kw won't hold a charge, kills battery

I have a 14Kw Generac with a new battery it won,t hold a charge and kills the battery after i charge it. I was able to use it when the power went out with hooking up an 8 volt charger to the battery and leaving it on when using the generator. Where do i find the built in battery charger on the unit? And how do i test it? Thanks Ron

Hey Ron. Can you post the serial number of the unit so I know which generator/charger we're talking about?

Thanks. So that board uses T1 power to run the charger which is built into the controller. You should check the T1 terminal in the generator to make sure you're getting 120V power to it from the transfer switch.

Thanks, I will look for T1 terminal tonight , Under the top cover on the right ?

It will be under the black plastic cover where all the other terminations are located.

T1 has 120V, I charged the battery it fired up.

I can't tell if that means you found the problem and corrected it, or if you think there's still something else going on?

If you check the battery voltage with a digital meter, what do you get?
