All,

The weather is starting to get colder here in western pa and I have a quietsourse 36kw that will crank forever. But just will not catch and run. It’s natural gas fueled. Local company came out and changed a solenoid on the fuel to a newer design last week. But when it went to exercise today. Over crank and no start. I’m worried I won’t ever get it started if the power goes out in actual winter. What can I do?

You really need to know what the fuel pressure is to it. First place to start!

Inlet pressure is 11.5 pounds water column. Is there a place I can check on the silver regulator

Water column is measured in inches. Do you have 11.5 inches?

You can remove the fuel pressure switch and test there, or if there is a tee in the little pipe, you can use that.

What has the maintenance been like on the unit?

Yes. I’m sorry 11.5 inches of water column.

Unsure on maintenance. (Bought used with 800 hours on it) I am going to do a oil change this week. Wondering if I should do the plugs too.

This might make a difference. Before it was installed at my house. It sat for a year unused and in storage inside a warehouse at my office.

I would certainly check the plugs, wires, timing belt, camshaft pickup, mag pickup and other maintenance items.

A full checkup is really in order before going much further into troubleshooting.

What fuel was it setup with before? Could simply be configured for the wrong fuel.

It was set up for propane. However the guy I purchased it from said he changed the jet back. Do you know which size is for nat gas? I hate to tear it apart to find out it’s got the right one in. I can take the one out of its storage area to see

Can you tell me filter number how much and what kind of oil and part number for plugs?

Is a full checkup something I can do or should I call a dealer to have it done?

I would need the serial number from the unit to tell you the proper NG jet size.

I would DEFINITELY check if it was setup for LP before this...

Looks like the jet should be a 7.5 for natural gas operation.
