New 22kw.

My MINI and lawn tractor like it just fine. We have pretty cold winters.

Would it just be a matter of the manual says so?

Generac recommends full synthetic 5-W30 after 25 run hours for most weather conditions

Ha! And I thought it was 10w30! I'll have to revisit the manual.

Yep, says it in my manual too. I also run the 5W-30 full synthetic in my 15k portable year round and my other portable generators as well.

After reading the posts I got my manual out.As stated by others 5w-30 synthetic is what is recommended if that’s what you want to use. That’s what I have been using without any problems especially in the winter. I looked through the owners manual and didn’t find anything about using synthetic after the first 25 hours. Unit was installed in 2014. The manual is part #0J943. Did I miss the note? Or was it in the newer model years.

Look at the additional note section. It specifies 1st oil change at 25 hours. Also first valve adjustment at 25 hours (except new 14 and 18 kw hydraulic valves). No reason to change shipped oil until 25 hours.
