On a unit like this, if you have to flash the field, something else has failed...

These units self-flash during each start.

I have a Generac model 04109-0 8000 watt house unit and need to flash it because it lost all power from sitting to long. There are only 2 wires going to the power unit and can't find wiring diagram so that I can flash the unit right to get the power working right.

Most Generac home standby units use field boost excitation, not residual magnetism. I would say that if it's not self-exciting, there's trouble somewhere with that circuit.

thank u I guess I will keep working on it and one day get lucky, I let it sit to long and lost its start up power. I just wish it was like a small one where u can flash it to get the power built back up, I was hoping maybe there was someone out here that knew how to flash a bigger unit, there should be a way.

That's what I'm trying to tell you, the generator automatically flashes itself each time it fires up via the field boost circuit, these are NOT residual magnetism alternators and don't benefit from being 'flashed'.
