My boss has been looking for some sort of motorized cart for generator installs. He's having a hard time finding something for sale. He has asked vault companies about vault carts but we really don't need something that massive so we're trying to find something more fitting to the size of your standard standby generators 24 kilowatt and under.

Is there anything out there that someone can link us to so that I can show him and let him take a look at it? We have a manual card but as he is getting older it's getting harder for him to move generators to the install location so he's just wanting something to make it as easy as possible I guess.

Never seen a motorized unit. I used a non generac branded transport cart, and i was moving these units pretty easily by myself. But on several steep jobs i had to have a friend help me move cart. Ill PM you their link. I think these cart are sturdier than Generacs. They also have a lift mechanism for vans. Personally, i used a utility trailer with drop ramp/door. On larger units i used my tractor and forklift. But honestly these tended to rip up peoples lawns.

Items he's looked at so far are things like a vault handler cart. But they seem hard to get.

We had a tracked cart that didn't work very well. Half the generator weight was forward from the tracks. I have a small metal shop and do some fabrication. Boss-man wanted the cart to be able to handle generators, or be used as is for smaller footprint heavy items. I fabricated a removable set of wheels with a platform for the front of the cart. It works awesome. We get into some sketchy terrain, so I will be adding removable out-riggers to keep the thing from flopping over, in off-camber situations. I shared pics of my design with another tech - they just welded a platform & wheels directly to their cart. Seems to work well for them. I'm tempted to bring ours to the 2024 Dealer conference, since it's in Colorado.

Anyone interested in buying a modified cart?
