Hello,

Our Generac 17 kW generator died earlier this year and we plan on replacing it with a new Generac 24 kW unit. From what I can tell from the installation instructions, the new unit should connect to our old transfer switch. The transfer switch is a 200A ATS, and from the tag, model 51992 and catalog number KGATD0401200.

The only difference I can find is the new generator has a wire connection for a 0V DC common ground used for Digital Power Management. Is that the WIFI module? And if so, how can I connect a 0V DC line between the ATS and the generator?

Thanks for any and all help.

Youll have to increase the size of the power legs. You will need a fused T1 circuit run, and older transfer switches usually do not have a fuse for this. But generac does sell an add on kit to create a T1 circuit.

Your going to need a minimum of 5 control wires between generator and switch. The 0 circuit is not necessary as the older transfer switch does not use load shedding. Youll only need to run a N1, N2, T1, 194, 23 circuit. Minimum #3 copper power legs.

Thanks for the reply. Already planned on upping the size of the transfer switch wiring.
