Any ideas? Haven't found it in the code book yet . The service to the house is about 12' from the edge of the pool and the unit would set by the service. That would put the edge of the unit about 8-9 ' from the waters edge.

So, in the 2020 code cycle, 680.22(E) (added to address this very thing) says that 'other equipment' must be 5' from the inside walls of the pool.

brings up interesting question. i have not done pools in quite along time, but i remember bonding EVERYTHING within 10 feet of a pool. we installed a continuous bond to all light posts, fencing, steps, handrails, etc.

i wonder how this would be affected. have not run into this issue before. does the case have to be added to the bonding system?

Sounds like the same 5' rule applies here. 680.26(B)(7) Exception 2

Hmm, I could swear it was 10’ back in the day..... but like I said, it’s been years since I did pools. Too lazy to crack the NEC I’m using to level a table leg ☺️
