What kinds of wires are run between transfer switch and generator? What gauge wires.

Also, how far of distance between transfer switch and generator. Can you post pictures of interior of transfer switch and inside generator where wires are run. For generator you need to remove right side cover where battery is located, then remove small silver cover on upper right side.

Let me explain more on this situation ats used to transfer when first installed, had a storm last night. Lightning hit the utility xmfr and blew the fuse. Generator turned on ats did not transfer. Checked all wiring..i even pulled new control wirew and made sure they all correspond accordingly. As soon as i disconnect 194 the error code transfer wire warn goes away. Im getting 5-10 volts from generator 12 v supply as you can see in the pics. I even ran a temporary exposed to wires from ats to gen to rule out voltage inductance and no luck same result.

You should be seeing battery voltage between 194 and 0 . Try hooking meter between 194 and ground buss instead of 0 terminal.

Next, unhook 194 and 0 and 23 from generator lugs and see if you than get 12 volts between 194 and 0.

Theres also an issue with long control connections giving a false check wiring warning, but you need to be seeing 12 v on that reading.

Updating software and an inline resistor can help with switching the red fault to a yellow warning, however you need to find out whats causing the drop in voltage. The SACM board in transfer switch needs the 12vdc.

Also, what happened to all the little plastic push tabs with the + stamped on it. There used to open the connections to lnsert wires on the wire terminals?
