Greetings all,

I'm relatively new to the natural gas standby unit that Cummins builds. We recently performed an install for a Cummins generator 20 kW. Everything worked perfect but I would like to know exactly how does it charge the battery when the generator is off. Other brands I've installed in the past use line voltage to "backfeed" charge the battery, however, I didn't see a charging circuit in the system diagram.

Regards,

They are somewhat less than 5% of market share here so I don't want to state anything emphatically. But I think they have a brick battery charger inside the transfer switch usually (always?) And the battery is maintained from there. When it is running it charges its own battery.

For the C17N6H, you provide 120V power from a 20A circuit from the utility back to the generator. This powers the battery charger, and optional features like the cold weather heater accessories. So you need to run separate 120V wiring to the Genset and connect to terminal blocks labeled TB-Line and TB-Netural.
Hope this helps
