Typically a buzzing/clicking is a sign of a bad battery or battery cable connection. How did you load test the battery?
The starter replacement is done blind on these units, but it's not terrible. The starter can be rotated up and out of the back without really removing anything.

Hello, My 044560 is doing the same thing. Compression test was 100 and 86 PSI (unable to find what the correct opperting compression should be). Last 100 hours used approximately 1 quart of oil (first time having this problem). Air filter has some oil in it. Fuel pressure at secondary port is 10.5"...

The Generac install manual doesn't pertain to high pressure fuel systems like your LP setup from the tank to the secondary reg.

The Protector series use the 0H1827 style probe, but it's not connected to the 14 wire like the retro fit kits were (they need signal conditioner power).

Most times the probes are in the top tank of the radiator. If your radiator is full, it may mean that the probe is failing, might have buildup on it, or may be that a wire has come loose somewhere. Anytime I see a loose push on connector, I take my wire strippers (which have little pliers on the end) and pinch the connector a bit. They don't ever fall off again!

It's just there to keep dirt/junk off the shaft and spring assembly. They do normally get left in place when installing the starter.
